Most popular Photograph of Richmond Park, The Royal Parks

This photo is called ‘Settling Down’ and is one of the most popular Photographs that I have taken in Richmond Park. Clearly, it was shot during the winter and the beautiful blue hue at dusk just sets it off. I couldn’t believe my luck when the stags began to pass by, it was almost as if someone was watching over me and ushering them into position. Interestingly, it was only about 4pm when I photographed this image. People often ask me how did I light up the inside of the tree house? The answer is, I placed a flash gun inside the hut, placed a warm lighting filter over it to give the warm glow and triggered it off remotely. I remember being freezing afterwards, wet through and covered in snow, I warmed myself up next to an open fire at the local pub with a smile from ear to ear knowing that I had just captured a beautiful image.

Photograph of Lower Pen Pond, Richmond Park, photography by Patrick Steel

My photograph of Canada Geese around Lower Pen Pond in Richmond Park illustrates the natural beauty of the area. It was so peaceful that day, just a gentle breeze across the water and all this wildlife before me, who would think that the City of London was only a few miles away, it’s incredible really….

Photograph of a dramatic sky over Richmond Park, The Royal Parks

This is another of my landscape photographs of Richmond Park, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this sky, the sun was very low, hence the shadows in the foreground but the scene was just magical, you could hear the rumbling of the thunder clouds in the distance and the fallow deer were all focused on me, they are to the right hand-side of the frame, heads up, staring at the camera, I captured a very special moment that day, one I shall never forget. The photograph is called ‘View to Sheen Cross Wood, Richmond Park’.

Richmond Park Photograph, The Royal Parks, Richmond upon Thames

I love this photograph of Richmond Park, when it’s blown up really big the detail in the foliage on the ground is striking. I captured the image from Spankers Hill Wood looking South West, you can just about see the two horseriders on the left hand-side of the photo. The tree to the right of the frame is gorgeous (that’s if you like trees the same way I do).

Landscape Photographs, Richmond Park, Richmond upon Thames

This has to be my favourite photograph taken within Richmond Park. I remember tip-toeing up to these Canada Geese at the edge of Upper Pen Pond, I was actually really quite close to them, only a few feet away. They were all facing the same way, all looking out across the water, it’s a beautiful shot, even if I say so myself. I could feel the adrenaline coursing through me when I captured it, the setting was absolutely perfect, it was breathtaking.

Rarely do you get to be in such a popular place on your own. This photo of the walk way in between Pen Ponds was captured on a summers day. Usually, I don’t shoot during the day as the sun is too high but this image tends to lend itself to the harsh lighting really quite well.

Photographs of Richmond Park, The Royal Parks, Richmond upon Thames, London

Here is one of my most tranquil photographs taken in The Royal Park. It’s called ‘Lower Pen Pond at Sunset, Richmond Park’. The Swan glided by just when I needed it to, it was almost magical, a beautiful moment, nobody was there but me. I remember that I was wearing shorts at the time and my legs were being bitten by hundreds of tiny midges at the waters edge. So, although the scene was tranquil, I was in agony and drawing blood!
